Dak Customization for Het Bos

Delighted to work with Het Bos to design their March and April program, giving us carte blanche to fill in their identity for the period.

A culture powerhouse

Het Bos is a culture hub for talent located next to the Schelde quay in Antwerp. Their program is always packed a variety of concerts, expos, food, parties, workshops, lectures, films, performances, co-working, ateliers and markets. A diverse hub of uniqueness and exploration where countless artists from different fields perform and exhibit.

Customizing Dak into Canopy

We used Dak Extended Bold as the base and added 3 custom serif styles.

We named the font Canopy, referring to the roof of the forest, the place in the sky where trees connect. A nod to Het Bos, Dutch for the forest.

Roots, Trunks, Branches & Crowns

The blobs, spikes, slabs and letterconnections form abstracted tree shapes like roots, trunks, branches and crowns. Combining them you get funky trees.

Letter “H”, in a combination of Canopy Blob and Canopy Spike. The top serifs form the crown and the bottom serifs form the roots. The H-bar connects like a branch to its stems.

Always a pleasure working with Het Bos. Thank you Joery, David and Greg for allowing us to explore and go wild.
